Cooling Towers
Take control of your customers’ scaling and microbial challenges with our complete portfolio of products designed for industrial water treatment.
Various industries use cooling circuits to remove heat by absorbing it with circulating water systems. The recirculating water can build up impurities that could lead to the precipitation of salts. The precipitation of salts and other particles can accumulate on equipment, resulting in corrosion, increased water usage and reduced heat exchange.
Scaling Prevention
Dow ACUMER™ polyacrylate water soluble polymers can help prevent the formation of scale, can keep it dispersed to prevent deposition and can modify the structure to make it less tenacious and durable. The products are effective on particulate matter containing calcium carbonates, calcium sulfates, calcium phosphates, silica and silicate, and iron reducing their adhesion to heat transfer surfaces.
Maintaining particulates in dispersions reduces buildups extending the life of the equipment and also reducing operational expenses related to energy and water consumption.
Biofouling Prevention
Water recirculating in cooling systems can become contaminated with bacteria, algae, fungi and protozoa that lead to the formation of biofilms – often referred to as slime. If untreated, slime may lead to operational inefficiencies, microbial induced corrosion (MIC) and can potentially host harmful micro-organisms. Control fouling and maintain system integrity with AQUCAR™ and KATHON™ microbiocides.
